Garlic is great to eat for a quick immune boost. It fights infections and kills pathogens. The problem is it tastes strong and you’ll smell like garlic if you eat too much. Luckily, there’s a solution!
Soak Garlic Bulbs in Apple Cider Vinegar
Soaking garlic in apple cider vinegar takes away the strong taste of garlic and keeps you from smelling like garlic after you eat it. I forget how long so let it soak because it’s been awhile since I’ve done it. But let the garlic soack at least 24 hours and then taste it. If it still has a strong garlic flavor then it may need to soak longer. You can leave the garlic soaking for quite some time. This is basically pickling garlic, which preserves it.
Garlic Is An Immune Booster
We like to keep it in the fridge and wait until we feel like we’re about to get sick, then eat a bunch of them as an immune boost. I can eat far more garlic like this than any other way I’ve found. I’ll throw an entire garlic clove in my mouth, one right after another. I almost like the flavor.
Garlic is cheap too so it’s a cheap, natural medicine. The only downside is it’s labor intensive to peel off the skin from each garlic clove. Try to do something else productive while you do it, such as listen to a podcast (like mine!).
Aged Garlic Extract
Another way to get the health benefits of garlic without smelling like garlic is to take aged garlic extract. You can buy it in liquid and capsule form. The liquid is more pure because the capsules have excipients mixed in with the garlic, which is very common with supplements. However, the liquid tastes like garlic so that’s not always desirable.
Keep Different Kinds of Garlic On Hand
Ideally, aim to have all 3 types – soaked garlic in apple cider vinegar, liquid extract, and capsules. They all have their pros and cons, and you don’t need all 3 of them all the time, but if you aim for that and only have 1 or 2 of them, that’s good. It’s much better to have it in stock than it is to wait until you’re sick to get it or make it yourself.
For pickled garlic you’d have to go to the store and buy garlic, then you’d have to let it soak for at least a day. For capsules or liquid extract you’d either have to order it online or visit a health food store. That is, unless you already have it, which behooves you because you want to take it as soon as you start feeling sick.
Take At First Sign Of Symptoms
The reason why it’s so important to keep some type of garlic in your house is because the key to preventing getting sick is to have a bunch of immune boosters on hand so you can take them as soon as you notice your immune system is fighting something. Do you know the feeling? If not, you’ll begin to get in tune with your body if you just listen to it.
Once you know how to tell that you’re becoming sick you can nip it in the bud by taking supplements to wipe out whatever is burdening your immune system. When you feel your immune system fighting something, a lot of the time it just needs a little help in order for it to get on top of whatever it is you’re fighting. But you have to have a few things on hand to fight it. And garlic is one of them.
