The #1 Reason Why I Wouldn’t Vote For Bernie Sanders:
According to former presidential candidate, Ron Paul, Bernie Sanders “watered down” a bill to audit the Federal Reserve. I have a lot of respect for Ron Paul and trust his judgement when it comes to politics. Paul says the two of them had been working on a bill to audit the Fed together, but Sanders made changes to the bill at the last minute, potentially making things even worse than they are now.
The Federal Reserve
The Federal Reserve is a huge part of the problem! They hijacked our country by taking over our financial system. After many years of working in Congress and fighting the Fed, Ron Paul was finally close to having the Federal Reserve audited and Bernie ruined it. There’s no excuse for that. It’s hard to overstate the importance of this issue, but I encourage you to learn more about it by reading books like The Creature from Jekyll Island: A Second Look at the Federal Reserve and watching videos like this one and this one.

Bernie Sanders’ Controversies
I wrote a short post commenting on Bernie’s stupidity or deceit, showing he’s wrong by breaking down one of his Facebook posts. But Bernie’s controversy doesn’t end there. His past record in congress shows some contradictions with his presidential election campaign. Bernie has voted for war, and even co-authored a bill to dump nuclear waste near the small town of Sierra Blanca, inhabited primarily by poor Latinos. A big undeniable fail of Bernie Sanders is when he said that Venezuela is more apt to realize the American dream than we are here. Now Venezuela is in terrible shape, with food shortages causing starvation, among other problems. Socialism has always failed! Bernie Sanders is wrong.
Sanders Bankrupts a College
Though Bernie Sanders advocates for tuition-free college, his wife bankrupted the college she worked for. In the process of running the tiny school with no more than 200 students into the ground, they funneled over $500,000 to their daughter, Carina Driscoll, between 2009-2012 for a woodworking program. Senator Bernie Sanders’ wife is currently under investigation for her involvement with a $10 million land deal for the college to increase the amount of student enrollments. The increase in enrollment never materialized and she left the school in 2011 with a $200,000 severance package. The school went bankrupt in 2016 and specifically attributed the debt from the land deal as a major reason for being broke.
Bernie Sanders’ Double Standard On The Minimum Wage
Though Bernie advocated for everyone working to receive a “living wage,” which according to him is $15 an hour, he only pays his interns $12 an hour. I guess he has a minimum wage double standard because he doesn’t care if his interns make a living wage.
Sanders Buys Expensive Vacation Home
Bernie Sanders proudly preaches about income equality, yet he recently bought a vacation home for half a million dollars! While that’s not an extraordinary amount to spend on a house, it’s about 3 times as much as the median home in that area and over twice as much as the median home in America…all for a vacation home? It sounds like he’s got extra money that needs to be redistributed to others that need it more. As it turns out, the minimum wage isn’t the only thing he has a double standard on.
Bernie Sanders’ Pro-Vaccine Stance Is Worrying
Sanders is clearly pro-vaccine, while I am not. With the combination of his blind faith in vaccines and his “free” healthcare idea, all I see is more mandatory vaccines. I’d imagine they’d implement penalties for not vaccinating too. Maybe, under his healthcare program, they’d deny the unvaccinated people treatment. And by “free healthcare” (in quotes because it wouldn’t be free), would that include whatever form of healthcare you desire? Or would that only include the healthcare that the government wants us to have? My idea of health care is totally different from others’. I think whole-food vitamin supplements and herbs are health care, along with alternative medicine. Would that be given by the government for free? I doubt it.
I don’t want to be forced to pay for health care that I don’t agree with and won’t be using. The core principle of freedom is letting the individual be free. But if the individual has to pay for others, he’s being forced to do something he doesn’t want to do. I believe in voluntary trade, not government coercion.
Bernie Sanders vs Freedom
Freedom is a simple concept that most people think they understand but too few actually do. One of the biggest problems I have with Bernie Sanders is the amount of freedom that we would lose under his administration. One of the most essential freedoms is the freedom for you to choose how to spend the fruits of your labor. After all, if the government tells you how to spend the money you’ve worked for, how can you be free? You’re working to fulfill the government’s will. That’s the opposite of freedom.
Bernie Sanders wants to raise taxes, though they’re already very high. In fact, he believes that a 90% tax rate isn’t too high! Don’t believe me? Watch the short video below.
Even if he is only talking about the rich paying 90% in taxes, that’s still not fair. The government shouldn’t take 90% of what anyone makes! It’s the same old trick that was pulled to get us to accept the income tax – tell the people you want to tax the rich. Then once the tax system is in place, slowly use that power to tax the poor and middle class. The middle class now pays more in taxes than they originally hoped the rich would pay!
The 1% Pays Most Of The Taxes!
Many people think the poor and middle class pay the most taxes, but 1% of the people pay nearly half of all the federal income taxes! That means the 1% pay more in federal income taxes than the bottom 90%! Is that fair? As if the 1% isn’t paying enough in taxes already, Bernie Sanders wants them to pay twice as much.
I hope to reach the top tax bracket one day. And I don’t want to pay 90% in taxes when I do! History is full of examples of government implementing policies that later had unintended consequences. Just think about it: who would save up their money to start a business, sacrificing instant gratification in the process, and then take a huge risk investing it, if when you become successful the government takes 90%?
Business owners would do whatever it takes to stay out of that 90% tax bracket, even if it means making less money. In some cases, they’d net more money by making less. That’s a backwards system. You can’t penalize people for being productive and reward them for being lazy. The idea of redistributing wealth in that way is flawed. Entrepreneurs will move their businesses out of the country and then we’ll get NO taxes from them. Remember, business owners are the ones who create the jobs. And each person gains from a voluntary transaction. When a person buys something from a store, it’s because they value what they’re buying more than what they’re giving for it. Bernie would just be giving corporations another reason to move their businesses over seas, which means we’d get less taxes from them, and less people would be employed from those businesses, and less of us would be able to gain from their products or services. There would be no incentive to save capital, risk investments, and do all the things necessary to create jobs and products/services that people want.
The 1% Isn’t The Problem
You read that right. It’s not the 1% that’s the problem. It’s the .0001% that’s the problem! Much of the world’s wealth is in the hands of a few families. Just 62 people control half of the world’s wealth. That’s where we should be focusing our attention. The 1% is too widely spread, affecting many of our most productive people who already pay more than their share in taxes. It’s the ultra elite, the very very few, that we need to tax. The people who make billions of dollars per year and pay no taxes. This small distinction makes the world of difference.
Unfortunately, too many people are misguided and are following for the trap of “let’s tax the other guy.” Until we get to the root of the problem, taxing the upper class citizens is merely another way for the government to suck more money from its citizens, and Bernie’s trying to convince you to go along with it. If he really wants to stifle the growing income inequality, he needs to join us in the fight against the federal reserve so they can’t create their own money from nothing and then loan it to us with interest. Yet, Bernie ruined our best opportunity to get rid of the banksters that secretly control our financial system. It seems like he’s pretending to be against the 1% so that the government can tax us more, while ignoring the real rich who have taken over our country.
Individualism vs Collectivism
To better understand what’s so wrong with Bernie’s ideology you have to know the difference between collectivism and individualism. A great place to start learning the difference between the two is in this video with G. Edward Griffin. I highly recommend listening to his take on this important topic, especially if you’re into politics. If you’re unwilling to listen to someone talk for that long, perhaps you’ll find this documentary more entertaining. Bernie’s socialistic ideas are a form of collectivism, where the individual is forced to give up his rights for the supposed greater good of the many. The government is needed to take from one person and give to another, which creates inefficiencies because the government does so at a cost, and is vulnerable to corruption because evil people want to be in a position with the power to take from others, controlling them in the process.
It all comes down to freedom. That’s what I want. And Bernie is the enemy of freedom because in his world we’d be reliant on the government.
Closing Thoughts On Bernie’s Dark Side
There is far more that needs to be said in order to really dig into why his policies are flawed, but my explanation would be far more lengthy than this post already is, which would be far too much. Here’s a good article with resources for more information stating a case against Bernie’s proposed policies. Tom Woods also has a free ebook called Bernie Sanders Is Wrong.
